We went to Oak Alley Plantation, which was beautiful. Slightly dicey driving of the rental car was necessary to get out there, but let's be honest, that's not Louisiana's fault. We also tried and disliked fried alligator at the restaurant (also not Louisiana's fault. Probably.):
We spent a day walking around the French Quarter doing all the touristy things, and I think we are all now dying for one of these gas lanterns:
The St Louis Cathedral:
The weather was AMAZING. Seriously, it was so perfect that we almost didn't come back. But I guess we would have missed the kids eventually, so we did come home right on schedule. We laughed a lot and got to relax and eat dinner late and talk without being interrupted...it was pretty darn close to perfect.
We also had some really excellent food. If you get a chance to go down there, I recommend trying GW Finns, Irene's, Carousel Bar, and especially Emeril's NOLA. I'm not sure I can recommend the French Quarter at night if you are older than 25 and relatively sober. ;)
Two of the three girls I went with have blogs, if you want to go show them some blog love (wish I could link up Linds too!):

You have such an eye in capturing the essence of what you see which then allows the viewer (as in me) to feel I also experienced it also. Truly a gift from God! Thanks for sharing.
